I'm working on a couple of projects and need some odds and ends. And a friend  showed me this huge supply catalog. And it said on it MSC industrial supply company. And now I'm trying to get a catalog from them so i can order parts and others things. But i have had no luck yet. If any one could steer me in the right direction that would be very helpful. Reply:1-800-645-7270 is the phone number on the catalog sitting on my desk. I got my original copy because I had a location in the neighborhood. I simply walked in and got one. They mail me mine yearly.Looks like their web site is down right now. Not sure what's going on as it's ben down the last few times I tried to pull it up..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Great place to do business with. About everything you could think of, in stock and usually delivered next day. And you talk with an American when you call.  Price is a little higher than some places but they really have everything in stock. Most complete catalog I have ever seen.
Reply:One thing I like is that they have a range of similar items. You can buy top end or USA made stuff if you want, and they also sell a decent quality import that can save you money. Not bottom end cheap stuff like HF, but solid economy tooling for the person who doesn't use it every day in production. As far as having "everything you can think of", I'd have to give that title to McMaster Carr or Graingers myself. There is stuff in those catalogs you will not find in MSC's. Prices are higher usually then MSC's stuff when you compare similar items. Enco is also a good catalog. I think they are tied in with MSC some how. I know as soon as I got my 1st MSC catalog, I started to get stuff from Enco as well. Enco tends to have the mid level to lower level quality tooling and the selection isn't as good as MSC. However for the occasional user the stuff is still usually better than HF, though some things look almost identical..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Got some stainless steel swivel elevator bolts from MSC recently.  Shipped quckly, and got a good price.  Look around for their promo codes if you're looking to buy.-AaronJet 17.5" Drill Press1942 South Bend 16x84 Lathe1980s Miller 320A / BP --- 2013 Power Mig 2562012 Jet 7x12 Horizontal BandsawVictor O/A Setup
Reply:I also think that they do bulk mailings on their printed catalogs instead of sending them out immediately when you request them.  The first couple I got came at least a month or so after I requested them.  Now that I have ordered from them several times, I get the catalogs automatically.  Probably they get a discounted postage rate for doing larger mailings.
