I'm making 2x3' rectangular frames out of 1"x1"x16gauge square AL tube in a production environment.Rather than drag the foot pedal across the table to work on the other side, it would be more effcient to just have a second pedal. Has anyone done this?I'm not an electrician, but it seems like you can just parallel the wires together by splicing two foot control cords together. The other idea that was mentioned in a previous thread was to get a lazy susan to just rotate the frame so welder could do each of the 4 corners standing in one spot....., but the 4 corner clamps weigh around 140 pounds together and I think I would find a hard time finding such a heavy duty lazy susan.
Reply:Very easy easy to make a lazy susan to support and turn the weight easily.  Get a standard trailer hub and spindle assembly.     Weld the spindle onto a stand and the hub to the center of the table leave an opening in the center of the table to install the bearings and spindle nut.   As most trailer hubs will support a 1000lb plus sheer load they will be more than adaquet for what u r doing.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:The electronics as drawn in your diagram, would probably not work with two switches in parallel.I've seen such lazy susans built around a truck hub.  You can even get the brakes working. . .
Reply:I would think the two 10K pots in parallel would be problematic.
Reply:I'm no expert in the design of electronics, but your best bet might be to make a short "Y" cable with some sort of switch...but the design of that is way beyond me.Designing the lazy susan wouldn't be too hard.  4 (oor more) casters, at equal distances around a flat plate, with a pipe welded into the center of the plate, fit it into a hole in the center of your table, when you need it.Or, learn to use the finger remote control...then the remote is always where you are, when you are.KevKevin / Machine_Punk from The Aerodrome Studio - Lincoln PowerMIG 210 MP - Meco N Midget w/custom welding station - Vintage Victor 100Current Projects: The Aerodrome Studio
Reply:Yeah it would be easy to get a hub/spindle If I  knew how to tig weld steel. I do have a friend that can mig weld it.So would something like this work?http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...5118_200365118if not maybe you can suggest something else from Northern Tool? as I got a good coupon from them LOL!So if wiring up two pedals in parallel is not a good idea I'd have to get a 3 pole switch to transfer the 10Kohm from one pedal to the other.Hmmm wonder which project is more of a pain in the butt? Looks like around $200 either choice...
Reply:Probably.  Those plugs aren't cheap.I'd check the junk yard for a hub, if you're going to be welding to it and cutting anyway.

Reply:Im new to the welding world.so if im way out of place please forgive me.But i know some welders you can getA wireless cordless foot pedle.I have no idea on the price im sure not cheap
Reply:The on/off switch could be wired with two pedals.  Either pedal would short the switch and turn on the welder.  The switch on the unused pedal will be open and have no effect. The variable resistor won't be so easy.  You can't have them both wired in without effecting each other.  A DPDT switch could make it work (leave the ground side of the resistor always connected).  A 3PDT switch would be ideal, but harder to find.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
Reply:Electrically if you put two pedals in parallel the total resistance in parallel, pins C to A, went to 5 kOHMs.  If you changed out both pots to 20 k Ohms and ONLY used them together in parallel you would have better results BUT the best solution is to move the foot pedal, build a rotator, or modify the torch with a switch and 10 K Ohm pot.Everlast PowerPro 256, Everlast W300 Cooler, Everlast Cart 250Millermatic 211, Spoolgun 100, Miller HD CartJackson W60 Truesight Digital Auto Darkening, Victor 315 Torch sitting on a Harper 830-86 cart
Reply:Just connecting them in parallel won't work... Even if you bump up the impedance of both to 20K. When one is sitting at rest, it will either be at max voltage or minimum (depending on how the pedal does). Regardless, since it's at one of the extents of the pot, it's output resistance will be very low. Your parallel pedal will have to buck against this low resistance, which will pull it's output voltage pretty strongly toward the voltage of the unused pedal. You won't get the full range of either pedal unless you operated them both at the same time, haha. Best bet is to either swap them out, or make a custom selector. You might be able to connect pins A and C in parallel for both pedals (assuming the drive circuit can output twice the current, which it most likely can), but you will need to select between the pin B on the pedal you want to use. The arc start switches can be used in parallel too.
