Will a 40amp Brk. be ok for this welder??
Reply:NO. The 225 requires a 70 amp dedicated circuit."SOUTHPAW" A wise person learns from another persons mistakes;A smart person learns from their own mistakes; But, a stupid person.............never learns.
Reply:Actually the crackerbox welders require a 50amp breaker, and a minimum 10ga circuit.I use a 6ga drop, but it could be smaller. The plate on any decent welder will tell you the input requirements, and you size the circuit accordingly. The 40amp will run the welder until the breaker gets hot, then it'll trip."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I guess I will stay with my Mig for now, I use my mm211 on a 40amp now. I will have to add a braker to my box for the stick. Thanks for the info.
Reply:Yes you can use it, but not at full power. I only have 30 amps to mine
Reply:Ditto. I'm limited by the wiring to my detached garage as well, 12 gauge.** I'm using my buzz box on a 20A breaker. Remember the breaker is sized to protect the wiring in the house. I've discovered I'm okay with any 3/32" rod.. when I crank the output amperage up too high, I blow the breaker. Its fine for projects with 1/4" gauge steel or thinner. ref: **The national electric code (NEC) specifies that the overcurrent protection device not exceed 30A for 10 AGW wire, 20A for 12 AGW wire and 15A for 14 AWG wire. --zip |
