I'm in the process of starting a small project with rotating parts that I would like to 'lock down'. I found this product that uses some cool binder bolts:I've tried to get in touch with the company to know where I could get the longer binder bolts, but haven't heard anything back. I've done a quick search which only returned bicycle stuff - Anyone know where I could get custom made bolts or where to get similar longer/stronger binder bolts? Also it's not obvious due to the black color, but they have the middle tube rotating against the other tube - I'm guessing you can turn down a bigger tube so that it 'slides' inside the tubes on each side, but is there a way to prevent them from binding over time? Thanks for your help.Hobart Handler 125 #500495Miller Diversion 165 #907005 (tig learning box)

Reply:I think you are looking for cam fasteners. I know I've seen them else where, but I'm not able to find them tonight.http://www.fixtureworks.net/ProductI...humbPath=7|4|0.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:It looks like a standard bicycle quick release skewer. The length can be adjusted by changing the rod length between the nut and the cam. In the photo it appears they used a short length of the tube along with a plastic spacer/washer to create the stack. I'd start by visiting a bike shop and picking up a skewer to play with. Making the rod would be easy to make. If you take the photo to the bike shop they may be able to identify the brand/manufacturer if these parts were ever used on a bike.
Reply:Image has been resized... can't edit the post - I agree the forum software should apply proper sizes to the image and let the browser resize the image.forhire - Thanks for the suggestion, I wasn't sure if the bicycle skewers had a rod with thread on both side. I thought the rod was part of the actual quick release mechanism, which meant to weld some extra rod length to get the length wanted. Not per say difficult, but if I can get something pre-made, then why bother? The longest skewers I found online were for bicycle wheels, which aren't usually all that wide, so the I didn't think the bicycle shop would have anything. Worth looking into for sure.Thank for everyone's input.Hobart Handler 125 #500495Miller Diversion 165 #907005 (tig learning box)
