My old cart held the bottles side by side and took uo too much room against the wall in my crowed shop. I tried storing it sideways but it was such a hassle sliding it in and out so that I could then roll it around. The bottles just had a chain to keep them from falling over and they were always moving around. I put up with this for 40 years and it was time to retire it. My new one holds the bottles fore and aft so it takes less room against the wall and it rolls out easily. The bottle retaining brackets hinge at the bottom and swing up to hold the bottle in place. They are tightened up with turnbuckles so the bottles don't move at all. I don't know why I waited so long to do it.Cut an MGB and widened 11" C4 Corvette suspension and LT1 Chevrolet power & 6 spd. Reply:Nice. I like those pieces of angle to hold the bottles in place! Great idea.

Reply:thats a nice idea!  Was fixing to repair mine, but now I think its off to the scrap pile for the old one, and a new more compact one will be in the works. Thanks for the tip.
Reply:Innovative... for sure!  It took me a while to figure out where the hinges were... <Rick V 1 Airco Heliwelder 3A/DDR3 CTC 70/90 amp Stick/Tig Inverters in Parallel1 Lincoln MIG PAK 151 Oxy-Acet

Reply:You just solved my problem of what cart to make for a spare set of cylinders. The center section is a slick solution. It would be easy to make those with an OSHA divider for commercial use.
Reply:Loved looking at your MG.  When I saw the article about your first MG, with the aluminum V8 and the Jag rear, I recognized it as one I saw in the fall of 1978 in San Jose, CA.  Had to be you.  I was a missionary for the LDS church at the time (you know, the guys with the white shirts, ties, and bikes).  We lived in the same apartment complex, as I recall, and saw you one day as you were getting out of the car.  I commented that it didn't sound like an MG, so you took the time to show us around the car.  I remember you mentioned how much you enjoyed blowing away Porsches with it.  That has been an inspiration to me for a long time.  Nice work.TonyMiller Maxtron 300Miller Spoolmatic 3Victor Journeyman II"Twern't my ignorance done me in, but what I knowed that wasn't so."  Uncle Tom's Cabin

Reply:Wow!  I guess that's even more of a coincidence!  This guy had installed an aluminum V8 in his green MG (I don't recall whether it was a Buick or Olds engine) with a Jag rear-end and all.  That V8 was shoe-horned in the engine compartment pretty tight, but was done so well it looked stock.  No turbo, as I recall.  Had one of those triangular-shaped air filters on a 4-barrel.  I recall he said he had to use a stock or very low profile intake manifold to avoid having to cut the hood.  He also said the V8 weighed less than the original motor, so he didn't have to do anything to the front suspension and the car balanced a lot better than original, helped with road handling.  As a 19 year-old aspiring hot rodder, I was pretty amazed.TonyMiller Maxtron 300Miller Spoolmatic 3Victor Journeyman II"Twern't my ignorance done me in, but what I knowed that wasn't so."  Uncle Tom's Cabin

Reply:Sorry, guys.  Didn't mean to hijack the thread for the MG.  Just gets my creative juices running.  On a more pertinent note, I think I'm going to build myself a tank cart modeled after this one.TonyMiller Maxtron 300Miller Spoolmatic 3Victor Journeyman II"Twern't my ignorance done me in, but what I knowed that wasn't so."  Uncle Tom's Cabin
