here are some pics of a jr dragster i backhalved. the old rear was wide and out dated. the owner couldnt service the engine or clutch on the car. plus it just looked old, he wanted it to look like a newer car.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
Reply:here is a pic of it on the ground. i still have to make a chain gaurd and notch the clutch plate for the chain since the old motor wasnt on an angle. also gonna make some weight tanks for it. one on the back and one under the motor.[IMG][/IMG]i dont have room in the shop right now for my bender, sooooo i had to improvise.  it worked great.  good thing im 6'3'' or i couldnt have done it. its pretty high.[IMG][/IMG]
Reply:Nice work winlight.  Way to take what some would consider as an outdated Jr. and give it new life with your updates.  I don't have any experience with Jr's but i will offer one bit of opinion.  Now that your upper attaching point of the backhalf is in the middle of the upright bar, add another bar in front of it to eliminate any flexing. Reply:thanks for the tip. however the car was way to stif the way it was, so i lowered those bars so that it would flex a little bit. i sat my 240 pd but on the roll cage and jumped up and down and most of the flex was still in the tires. but i wanted there to be a little flex in it to help it hook up when they go to a bigger motor. the line you showed would stiffen it but i think if they have a problem with too much flex i might add a bar under where the motor will go to the bars along the bottom.

Reply:That is assume. Thanks for the info. I seem them at the track and never pay much attention. 1.58 60' wouldget a kids attention for sure.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:Great job winlight, nice work with the tubing. What are you using for a notcher?Gordhttp://gordsgarage.wordpress.com/
Reply:i have a jd2 notcher. its not the cheap one and its not the outragously expensive one. its the one in the middle. not sure of the name. i love it, beats that old harbor freight junk that couldnt make a strait or centered notch to save my life.
Reply:just looked at jd2 website.  my notcher is the notchmaster.
Reply:here are some pics of the completed car.  i made a weight tank under the motor and painted all of my work.
Reply:Thats some cool stuff! Those little dragsters really haul ***.
Reply:Awesome job. Out of curiosity, what size motor is on there, and what needs changing if they went to a bigger motor? Do they need to redo the axle or do they offset the motor?Mike
