Bench Top Bender Mount Plate

I just picked up a knock off  hossfeld syle benchtop bender at harbor freight using their easter 25%off coupon. It ended up costing $60.00 and it works pretty good. I needed to make a mounting plate for it so i can clamp it in my vise because i don't have the space/room on my table, so i wanted to make a mounting plate so it can be clamped into my vise. On to the build..The bender/mounting holesThe plate, holes laid out/ tubing cut. 1/4'' plate and 2''x1/4'' square tubing was used.Layout tip, When centering up the square tube to the plate, here is a trick i learned. Measure your plate, in my case its 10''Then measure your tubing, in my case its 2'' square tubing.Now subtract 10 from 2 which gives you 8, THEN divide it in half which in my case half of 8 is 4. Now set 4'' on your combo square and mark your lines and done!On to the next post....Ya gotta spend money to make money!
Reply:Tacked/squared upAll welded up. Used the new miller 211. Great machine and runs nice and hott!Quick test fit/ setting the bender on top of it to see how it looks being clamped into the vice.I will have the finished pics tomorrow once i get the bolts for it. Reply:Those are great benders. I have prob bent a half million bends in the last 10 years with mine. Heres a little tip  Get yourself some long 5/8" bolts from your local farm store and put the dies on top of the frame for bending. It will be easier to get the parts off rather then removing them from inside the frame plus you can see what you are doing much better. Reply:Not bad. You need a stout bench thats either quite heavy or bolted to the floor however if you do any bending like I do with my floor model unit. I'd just push the bench around the shop other wise. I can probably get away with that on my "new" bench and vise however. It weights close to 1 1/2 tons!I bolt my floor model unit down with female masonry thread inserts in the concrete floor. When I don't need it, I unbolt it and run in some large allen screws to keep cr@p out of the inserts.  Keeps it flush with the floor for sweeping. A quick blow with the blow gun and I can back out the allens and rebolt the bender when needed..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Question Shane...why not just weld the tube to the bottom of the bender?  Is it a dis-similiar metal that could not be welded together with the tube?

Reply:All done!I powder coated it flat black. My powder i used was alittle old and it did have a few clumps and didnt flow out. O well its just a bender mount!All done, bolted up!Thanks for looking!Ya gotta spend money to make money!
