Reply:Pro'smore concentrated gas flowcan run a bead with alot more stick outa must for stainless and ti i spose it saves a tiny bit of gas compared to normal lensgood for tight spots because stick out i.e welding say headersCon'smore expensive very bulky which can make it useless on some weldmentsmy personal opion is they are a must i weld everything with them but really depends what you are doing thats my 2 centsCigweld Transmig 265seBoc 140amp StickBoss 200amp AC/DC TIGLincoln Electric Invertec V260-S
Reply:just search "gas lens". they stabilize the gas flow out of the tig torch to reduce venturi affects that can draw atmosphere into the weld zone.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:Some people swear by them. I tried it for a while just out of curiousity. Didn't make a damn bit of difference for what I do.My name's not Jim....

Reply:I use them all the time. In my tig class the instructor had me do a test to show me how much stickout I could get away with using both. He had me run the standard lens and move the tungsten out untill I could easily see porosity from poor coverage. Then he had me do the same thing with the gas lens starting at about the same point the normal lens had issues and going out stupid far. It's nice to know you can extend out farther if needed for corners and tubes..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:I don't remember the last time I had a collet body on my torch. I keep a #12 cup on my torch almost exclusively, not to many things I can't get to with that sucker
Reply:thanks for all the replies guys... much appreciated. i can definitely understand and see (thanks bozzza) how/why people like them. for the application i was using it it probably didn't make much difference but from the pic i can see there are no doubt times it could/would be a great benefit |
