I have a couple motor and vane pumps for sale. The pump is a procon pump and the motor is a dayton. its a 115v with plug all are brand new. i am currently working on a tig cooler right now just thought some people would be interested in this because of theres not too much out there for carbonator pump setups. im looking to get 200 or b/o email me if interested [email protected] Attached Images
Reply:That is an pump without pressure adjustment will be too high pressure.Vinnie
Reply:isnt there a way to control it?
Reply:You could put an inline pressure relief, but why bother?  Just get the correct Procon pumo to start with.  The correct pump actually has two acorn nut projections.  One is the pressure relief setting, the other is the cover for the fine mesh strainer.Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig  Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma

Reply:you guys are right but i just got it from a buddy for free and just want to make it cheap as possible. im just trying to get rid of em for my buddy. I made a stainless steel tank for it already because i bought it real cheap from my work for a couple bucks. just turning into a build thread lol..
Reply:You could also spend about 20 bucks for a router speed controller. This would allow slowing the motor speed to reduce output pressure. I've rebuilt many of those ProCon pumps in my tech days.Lincoln Idealarc 250 (circa 1962)Lincoln Weldpak 155 w/Mig KitLincoln Squarewave TIG 175
Reply:Blow it off not very conducive to a 50 psi tig torch still has no strainer. The motor is of some value.Maybe 50.00 for all.http://cgi.ebay.com/MC-CANNS-CARBONA...item3cb75034ddhttp://cgi.ebay.com/McCanns-Model-43...item5643d3e4abhttp://cgi.ebay.com/Santa-Fe-Model-A...item43a6b903bdThey show up all the time.Vinnie
Reply:Router speed controls won't work on a motor that is frequency dependent for it's speed. They work fine on motors with brushes and this isn't one of them. This is an induction type motor and it's speed is based on the power line frequency. Reply:millerdialarc, one way to use this pump is to put a T on the output then a needle valve that goes back to tank. This can be 'tuned' or adjusted to make this pump work. This is just an adjustable bypass and is done commonly in industrial controls and works fine.  You'll need a pressure gauge on the TIG torch side of the T downstream of the needle valve. There are lots of Swagelok SS needle valves (these usually come with hardened or stellite trim to take high DP) on eBay, usually. The idea is to connect to your torch and return lead circuit with the bypass wide open. Start the pump and circulate water which should show very little or no pressure on the TIG torch leg of the T.T is -one inlet from the pump, one outlet to the needle Valve and one to the torch.Make sure you don't get a needle valve that has some 0.001" diameter trim set!!!  You need a ball tip needle and a full port flow of about 1/8" or maybe 3/16" most. With the torch circuit for resistance, the bypass can be slowly closed- it starts fully opened- until the pressure guage shows a net resistance to flow (pressure build up) of 40-45 psi which is about max for long term connections in the torch circuit. If you were to have to small a needle valve trim set and the wide open valve was too small to relieve the flow- the torch would pressure up.  Check the valve's end connections and then look up the valve's C-sub-V of flow characteristic to confirm you can get the flow to relief the pump's full volume. This works, and will allow you to use that pump regardless of volume and pressure, but the circuit has to be tuned with the full resistance of the torch and all hose to make the adjustment.sometimes these pumps have pretty wild oscillations in pressure so you need anohter needle valve under the gauge OR as 'gauge minder' or a flow frit that will help restrict and dampen surges and allow the needle on the gauge to show a more stable reading.cheers,Kevin MorinKenai, AK
Reply:Here is the cooler I just finished. pictures shows how I checked the torch pressure settings too.  Attached a fan to the motor, another guy's idea from a blog.have funtom Attached Images
Reply:What torch is that? Most torches have red as power cable return water, blue water supply and black as argon yours seems to be different?Cooler looks goodVinnie
Reply:That looks like a DINSE 50 connection on the end of that torch whip. I would double check and make sure you dont have your gas line hooked up as the return water.
Reply:HIThe torch is hooked up correctly and works great.  To check a new torch push a little air in one hose and see where it comes out.  As usual you want the return water to come through the torch cable. The color of the hoses is up to the manufacturer.Have funTom

Reply:HiI will put my hard hat on I have a Everlast PM 256 tig and Miller 180 mig.  WP-18 water cooled torch is from here. http://cgi.ebay.com/WP-18-Water-cool...item439bd84df9have funTom
Reply:Soooo grasshopper Chinese torch now we know why cable colors are all fubared up as well as fittings.I knew that it didn't look rite. Why didn't you get a #20 h2o torch.Much easier to handle.
Reply:Well as the Frank Sinatra song goes “I did it my way”Just remember we all do not have the same information and there for we do not all make the same decisions.  Isn’t life wonderful?   have funTom
