A bench vise never seems to be at a convenient height, so this one is adjustable. The burn-out was given to me a couple years ago . . . 20 inch diameter, 4-1/2 thick . . . and the rest of the material left over from previous jobs. The 3-1/2 inch pipe fit nicely inside 4 inch schedule 40 except for the weld seam, requiring a groove about .050 deep. The top plate is 3/4 with a Chinese swivel vise bolted to it. Reply:Great idea! The table that the vise is bolted to always seems to be in the way. Nice looking job!

Reply:Do you have a pallet jack, one wide enough to straddle the base? If so, you could install ears or tap holes to temporarily anchor two cross-pieces that would go over the tines.Looks like you ruined your chance to build the heaviest Unicycle in your state! Wonder how heavy and long the outriggers would need be to satisfy OSHA?
Reply:Very nice stand - looks like its about as strong as the table behind it...
