completely inspired by the fine looking carts shown here, I decided to build a cart to move the Miller Dynasty power supply around. In the past I'd been in a shop where the leads reached the entire shop but now that is not true and in the past the much smaller shop allowed wall mounted welders to remain in place, but now I need to move around more. So, following the ideas shown here by the many power supply carts I decided to make one to hold the Dynasty, above the cooler tank, so I made a new cooling water tank too. On top I needed a platform for a TIG gun controller and on the back I put a bottle platform.I made the frame of 1" 6061-T6 and used the Dynasty to weld. most of the design was to accommodate tubing I had or remnants I could get for a slightly reduced price.  (Admittedly that meant some odd design features.)I wanted a bottle 'ramp' so I could roll the bottles onto the stand's back plate so I put a hinged ramp of 1/4" that helps get the bottles on the cart without lifting them flat footed.bottle clamp is just a section of 10" pipe with a hinge and pipe pin holder to keep it closed.with all the leads and torch connected and the new water tank tucked away below the power supply, the stand worked well to move this tool around.thanks for the inspiration and many posts on the welding machine carts.cheers,Kevin Morin
Reply:Nice cart Kevin. The ramp was the first thing that really caught my eye. My current cart has a lip that I have to get the bottle over... which is a real pain when full. Does the ramp work as intended?
Reply:very nice.  not too many alum. carts  I likeyPound to fit, paint to match
Reply:I like it.How's the new shop and current boat coming along?  I've been meaning to shoot you an email for an update of what y'all have going on for a short time now.DawsonWho is John Galt?
Reply:forhire, I only put locking casters on the front due to the inventory on my local suppliers' shelves. I need locking casters on the back too, so to roll on the bottle I chalked the wheels. The ramp works fine, but needs to have 'traction tape' on it so the bottle won't slip down the ramp when near the top.Originally I planned (and will still add) a cam-lift to the ramp. My idea is that a off center pivot 4-6" pipe segment would allow the ramp to be lifted by a cam jacking roller and reduce the effort to roll the bottle up the ramp.  I think this would make the ramp more useful yet?But... it rolled on the first try with only a little slip, I also don't show the latch as the hinges were tight and the ramp stayed up for now.tigmusky, the time to cut and fit in the Miracle Metal saved the cost offset and I prefer working in aluminum over steel so... besides; no painting.Dawson, pm in the works.thanks for viewing and remarking, gentlemen.cheers,Kevin MorinKenai, AK
