Any of you out there use Quick Disconnects on your torch?  I'd like to be able to quickly remove my torch handle so I can store it in a different place than my tanks and cart. So I was thinking of getting a set like these.http://cgi.ebay.com/QUICK-DISCONNECT...item2a066937b1Anybody use them?  Have you ever heard of a set leaking (that could be bad)?Miller 250x & Lincoln V205-TSmith Oxy-Prop torch

Reply:I used Western connectors for maybe 10 years or a little less. They used to be great and lasted a long time. But of late, they were getting cheaper and cheaper in quality. They wouldn't leak, but they wouldn't stay together either. The last set I got wore out in less than a couple of months. I went with the Koike's after that and am still on my very first set. They are around 6 ears old now.FWIW, while you are at it, get a set for reg to hose. Makes bottle swapping very easy.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:I use the Western QD's on my shielding gas hoses on the truck and my tig torches.  I also use them on the oxy-propane set on the truck. I have it fixed so the torch has 25' of hose screwed onto it, then I have a 50 foot hose set with QD's and a set of QD's on the regs too.  Works good.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:I bought a set for my torch from Praxair about six months ago. I think they are made by Western. But I haven't had any problems. I like the looks of the Koike, I may try them next."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:I got 5 torches and 3 sets of bottles.  I have Koike connectors on all of them.  Makes swapping from there big bad 3' victor demo torch to the tiny victor 100c handle and tip in about 5 seconds. The westerns seems to want to pop apart all the time.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers

Reply:Hey, I had to do it. Two cutting rigs and three torches with reg/hose connectors as well. It was well worth the effort and money, IMO.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:On the Koike', can you purchase just the male ends for the torch? I have multiple torches I use from the same hose and I don't want a bunch of left over female ends going to waste."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:DDA52, thats good enough for me.  I ordered those Gentec ones from the ebay guy.  If you are set up with Bing Cash-back account and use pay pal you can save 8%.  $36.43 delivered is pretty reasonable I think.Miller 250x & Lincoln V205-TSmith Oxy-Prop torch
Reply:Koike  I have 14 pairs, the oldes are now 20 years old.   I also have a Koike floor manifold.  It's one hose in, and three hoses out; all quick-couples.  But the best tool-toy I have is the Koike "Handy Auto" torch.  This torch is why I got quick-couples to begin with.  It is no substitute for not knowing how to use a torch, but if you do it will make you great; it will produce laser quality cuts.  If anyone is looking for one keep in mind that beginning in the mid 90's forward "Handy Autos" changed to take Victor cutting tips, which is a real plus.   Opus Ferro
