Reply:I went back and looked again, I'm not sure if this is the place for this BUT, When did the working guy loose his spot in "society" ? How many people will just walk by that pipe work and just see a pipe? That work there is "efn" art! and deserves to be on display, Don't us guys wonder how a surgeon can replace a organ, and admire his skils? Well how many folks can put a bunch of pipe togher like that, or dake a dent out the car door, make water come and go from your sink? etc. You know what I mean? Why isn't a guy with dirty fingernails and a bandaid on his knuckles held in the same admiration as the white collar dude? Sorry, just had to let it out.

Reply:I have a question, seeing that I dont weld for a living and Im just learning. When you weld pipe and lets just say its on those big stands I see sometimes on power plant jobs. Do you weld so far and then roll the pipe to get all the way around? This may be a dumb question, but I never really thought of it till I started to read this site and look at the pics posted lie in this thread.

Reply:Wow I could see how this would turn into a lot of work fast!I never realy looked at how stuff was put togeather till I got a welder. Now i find myself looking at everything. I went to a job the other day to pick up a fork lift and while I was waiting for them to bring it to me, I looked at how the gym roof and over hangs were built.

Reply:Originally Posted by speedfreak87Heh, when ever I walk through our plant at work I'm always looking at the welds on some of the water pipes, I'm not the best in the world, but some of the welds have me questioning who they paid to do the work.  Also when ever I'm out an about anything metal that might be welded I'm checking it out. I much rather see the welds then have them ground down or covered up.
Reply:looks great man i wish their were some guys like that in my shop i could learn from!
Reply:thanks for the complements everyone, it keeps me going

Reply:Originally Posted by BgbkwndoVery nice work! One hint, if I may suggest it. In the pic showing the two weld-neck flanges, the weld stops are clearly visible. An old hand once taught me to leave a little more build-up here, then grind a flat on it. This would serve to eliminate the little "fish eye", and also provided a location to stamp your welder I.D. #.Just my $.02 worth.Bgbkwndo.
Reply:That is freaking awesome sjmj!!!!!!!!, work of a true craftsman, something you don't see allot or goes un-noticed in our society. It looks & sounds like you take a great deal of pride in your work and you more than should, heck I have pride just looking at it and knowing there are people like you out there doing this kind of stuff everyday.  Keep up the great work!!!!
