I was able to attend the Miller Road Show today, I was only able to attend it for about an hour but had a great time. There were several nice welders and plasma cutters there to try out. I tried out two Miller 211 Auto Set welders, the first one was running off of generator and was running flux core wire, the second Miller Auto set was running solid wire. They were great welders also tried out two Miller Elite helmets they were awsome. Wish I would of had more time as I would have liked to have tried out the tig welders or a mig with a spool gun. Nope I didn't leave empty handed. I purchased a Miller Performance helmet that came with a pair of Miller mig gloves, a cheater lens, helmet bag and a few spare lenses. Also bought a Tillman welding jacket. The road show was at a 3-I show and a few boths away was an Airgas both, I purchased a pair of Tillman gloves there. It all made for a great time and got to meet some nice people, also picked up some good pointers or advise on my welding.
Reply:Those Miller Elite helmets are the best I have used. I swore off Auto darks for years because the lense would turn off to early and I was getting blinded by white hot tungsten. The delay setting and the lense clarity is what sold me. The digital elites are a little beter because it is easier to change your settings without having to take the helmet off, but my shop is not gonna buy me a new one just for ease of use."ALL DAMAGE, NO CONTROL"
Reply:It was nice getting to weld with one of them so that I knew right away how much difference there was compared to the old Orscheln's auto dark helmet I had been using. About as much difference as day and night. I have a small head and have always had trouble with the cheaper helmets fitting my head but the Elite helmet fit like a glove. I went ahead and purchased the helmet that I bought for two reason's the first was price as it was quite a bit less, the second reason was that the opening towards the rear of the helmet was smaller and the salesman told me he thought it would help with the issue of the light coming in from the back side of the helmet. I tried it last night and it worked great, I plan on keeping the old KT helmet for the grandson that likes to help grandpa. |
