Picked up the LN sometime last year.Tried it out when I got home, and it fizzled  Welded sorta ok, but the wire wouldn't stop feeding when you released the trigger  I suppose that's allright if you intend to make a 4 mile long weldSo, it resided in the "shop" until recently.Took it in, they sent it off, and the repair guru fixed it.  A short in the gun.  70 bucksNow I'm stokedGet back out to the house, grab it off the truck, run all tippy toed like to the Ranger, and hook it up.  We're expectin' some GREAT STUFF here.Hot sweaty little fingers fumbling while puting in the new feed rollers (knurled rollers), got the wire loaded (Innershield....nothing but the best)Messed around with a little scrap to try and set the "parameters"  (fancy azz word!!!!!!), and finally got to a point where I thought it was sorta ok.I did notice the trigger was a little funky, but paid it no mind.  Not much travel, and quirky.  IIntermittant.  Cuts out while welding.NOW FOR THE PROJECT!!!!!!!!!!!  The Great Pyramids it ain't, but it was sorta importantA new thingy to compensate for wear on a bumper hitch.  Where the hole is.  Very scientific.Put the piece in place with vice grips, and slapped the hood on (AD hood no less....more technology)Put the wire on the joint, my beady lil' eyes wide, and pulled the trigger!!!!!!I'm smokin', then it happens.........................................The sucker cuts out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Reasonable weld in process, and the dam gun goes "see ya later".  Well, I saw this a little bit when I was setting the "parameters", and tried to continue with the bead knowing it might happen.  But by now I'm all azzholes and elbows.  The shock got to me.  I was momentarily horrified, and it took time to recoverIf the stupid thing doesn't really big time puke, it hiccups.  In hiccup mode it leaves black holes!!!!!!!!!  Not Rod Serling spacey kinda black holes...........REAL BLACK HOLESSo now we're looking at a new gun, or modifying the trigger where it's useable with thick leather gloves.  AND DON'T GIMME ANY CRAP ABOUT THE FANCY "MIG " GLOVES.  THIN AS A CONDOM USELESS THINGS.Put a stinkin' rod in the stinger, and go to work.  But nooooooooooo..........not with this fancy mechanized crap!!!!!!!!!~I've been given good, well thought out, suggestions for a good replacement gun.  BUT HOLY CRAP, YOU COULD BUY A GOOD RIDING MOWER FOR WHAT THEY COST!!!!For ya tech freaks, here's the "parameters" (gag blechhhhh).035 InnershieldPower source settings as in the picLN settings........CV, DCEN, 125ipm wire speed3/16 plate married to 1/4 plateSunny, wind around 15-20, humidty.....yes, temp..niceI'm convinced that when you go to Hell, someone slaps a MIG gun in your hand immediately upon entering.Pic One.......power source settingsPic Two.........total arc outage, and happy feet trying to get it back in order, end of weld trashedPic Three.......little more used to the problem, some hiccups (4 to be exact), black holes, and a very disgusted doooood almost lost the joint line repeatedly in the shade under the truck, stinkin wire doesn't give enough light to work with!!!!!!!!!Pic Four....The gun.  POS Spraymaster.  Stupid tab gets trapped under the glove leather and kills the contact.  I see a Lincoln Magnum if my future.  Or some surgery, and creative use of duck tape (yes I said DUCK) Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Yeah Sam, they are the best things since sliced bread....well, until something goes wrong. I've worked days on mine until I got it right.
Reply:A hunk of 3/4" (or maybe 1"... depends how wide the gun is) and some JB weld, and no more catching on the trigger.Slice the pipe long way to get about 1/3 the circumference, cut to length a little longer than the trigger, round the corners, and JB that bad boy on. The wider trigger surface this gives is less likely to let a pinch of the glove get under it, and if you let the pipe hang a bit back of the factory trigger, there is a bigger gap, so it takes more to hang it up.If it doesn't help, 30 sec to take it off (die grinder with a burr) and try something else.
Reply:Maybe you need a new liner.  Those are cheap.  My welder was acting crazy and it was a brand new one.  I replaced the liner just like the man said.  Took the old one out and laid it on the ground and put the new one beside it and cut it.  Put it in and same thing.  The whole problem was that the liner the thing came with from the factory was 8 inches too short.  Bought a new one and put it in without cutting it and once it was in place I cut it so that when I put the gas diffuser in it would be touching it.  Welds like champ now.Liner cost me about 12 bucks.  Worth a try.If you don't use your head you may as well have been born with two backends. That ain't exactly how Papa used to say it.*Linc'n WeldanPower 200 with a Wis. 2 cyl. w/handcrank*Linc'n AC225 *Linc'n ProMig 180*tiny porta torch...
Reply:If you going to get a new gun. get a innershield gun. Like the k126.You can get many types of conductor tubes so you can reach in and see your weld better.Your holes could caused by some thing in the weld zone. ( dirt, grease, ect).Or to short of stick out. Innersheild wire needs a longer stick out than mig wire.Try around 3/8 to 1/2 inch. welding innershield, with gas gun with the nozzle on. You find the nozzle gets in the way. Plus using an oval handle motion instead of circles helps. Think of it as 2 steps forward and one step back. this helps float the flux and dirt to the surface.
Reply:AND DON'T GIMME ANY CRAP ABOUT THE FANCY "MIG " GLOVES. THIN AS A CONDOM USELESS THINGS.
Reply:I just feed the wire into the torch by hand to feel for any problems in the liner.  Usually do this when first installing a new spool of wire as a kind of periodic liner check. If I was going to buy a fluxcore only gun, I would probly go with the Bernard Dura Flux gun.  www.bernardwelds.comMM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
