First year welding as a junior in high school, here are some projects that i actually got to take a pictures of.. one is a 3G open root bend test i did just messing around.. Attached Images

Reply:"Not terrible but could use some work." You think? Your bends look clean. The short bead is nice. Imagine wrapping those corners before you quit the bead. Corners can be tricky, it is better not to stop or start there, but difficult to achieve a clean corner wrap. Good work, keep at it.City of L.A. Reply:Just a suggestion for your bend tests. Once you've ground down the weld, use a 36-grit sanding pad, then go to nothing less than 80-grit. Make sure your sanding lines are longitudinal with your coupons. And as you did, put a slight bevel on all edges. You want your coupons to look almost like a mirror finish, before you bend them.
