New Shop- New Table

I recently took lease on a larger shop space. In a past life the shop was a heavy truck repair/service shop and has 3 in-floor lifts and a large 4 post lift. I bought a 3/4" x 8' x 4.5' steel plate and have mounted  atop one of the floor lifts. Adjustable height weld table is great. The plate has mild curvatures. To make it's surface "true" as possible I'm planning to attach a sub-frame made of 3" channel iron. My woe is that the frame will limit clamping abilities. Reply:The 4" offset is what I was thinking too. I think I will add casters as well. If I need to move table top, just lower lift and roll. I have an employee that is vertically challenged, he's 5' 4". Yesterday he was working off of the lift table so every time he walked away I would raise the table height a few inches. Eventually he was looking confused when returning to table. After a few hours and a good foot increase in height he figured it out. We thought is was funny, him, not so much.
