I was looking for a chart that would get you close on amp settings for stick welding. I have found settings for rod size and what type of rod 6010 7018 etc, but not with the thickness of metal to be welded on. I liked my mig as it had it listed under the cover that way.Tahnks Dan]Lincoln PT 225 Tig
Reply:There is a stick amperage calculator available from Miller on this site in the 'resources' section. You can buy it for about $2 and have it sent to you, or get the whole set of mig/tig/stick calculators as a package. Typically, for 7018, 7014 or 7024, if you set the current to 120-130 amps for 1/8" rod, 90-100 amps for 3/32" rod and 150-160 amps for 5/32" rod, you'll be in the ballpark and can adjust from there.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:change the fractional size of your stick to decimal, then take out the decimal point and that's about what your amperage should be. If your using an 1/8" stick, decimal would be .125, so your amperage would be 125 amps. 3/32" would be about 94 amps. This gets you pretty close to where you should be set at.Go hot, or go home!

Reply:Forums are killing researchRTFMLincoln's Stick Electrode Welding Guide, Procedures and Techiniques........available online. The Bible.......available form Lincoln thru the mail. Often amp ranges are shown on the label on the box the rods came in.Or..........fire up the machine and run a few rods, and adjust accordingly"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I use those Miller "calculators" and they work great. Will definately get you very close. After a while you'll remember whats what."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!!
