Hi all,Picked up my first personal welder. Just a Hobart Handler 140 MIG. I ordered a bunch of wire with it too - 0.030" 308L and fluxcore. I want to know what gas I should pick up for doing stainless. When I TIG welded on a friends cheap DC Snapon, I never got good color in the welds but they stuck - was using Argon/CO2 75/25 I think. I know stainless people say to use Tri Mix - is that for TIG and MIG? Just TIG? Just MIG? And, if I pick up Tri-Mix, can I use that for mild steel later (non-fluxcore)?Thanks all.Jon
Reply:Trimix is for mig only, mainly stainless. Straight argon is for tig.City of L.A. Structural; Manual & Semi-Automatic;"Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place where gold is refined. Reply:So if welding mild steel and stainless I'll need two different gases for MIG?75/25 CO2 for MS? Trimix for stainless?
