keeping welding shirts clean

I was just wondering is there anything you can do to the wrangler welding shirts to keep them looking new and not  get all those little burn spots on them?  I have herd of starching them but i havent done it my self yet.  also is it best to not wash them before you wear them?

Reply:Heavy starch from the cleaners will slow down the bbs, but inevitable, they will get burned up.

Reply:Can't understand what the problem is, You buy a shirt for welding and then you don't want to get it burnt?? Its bound to happen, My overalls i use cost me £30 a time they are flame retardant but at most they last a couple of months, They do end up with burn holes, and then when you wash them they get bigger. But thats all part of welding.If you went into a shop and saw a welder looking spotless you'd think to yourself "That guy don't do no work?"Will get myself a leather jacket for the summer i think, i can wear that with a T shirt
Reply:I have two groups of cloths, one group is for work, they are all dirty and ripped up and stuff, the other group is for everything else and stays clean.

Reply:you can get them starched, but the money you spend doing it could buy you a new shirt after a few times. I think guys starch their shirts so they can look stylish. Me, I just wear my old raggedy shirts. I got cured of the stylish look up in Alaska.
