high heat paint

someone once told me how to make high heat paint....never wrote it down and now I have no clue any thots???

Reply:Not sure how to make it. I painted some foundry tongs with some ceramic exhaust manifold paint that I bought from Napa in a spray can. So far the paint has held up nicely. It was fairly cheap.
Reply:my friend took basic automotive paint put through a few steps and it was high heat....he used it on engine blocks and trannys, held up very well, he has since passed away so cant really give em a call, thank you for the input
Reply:Hyjinx, I'm sure your friend had more than you for a friend. People he worked with, kin folk, etc. I'd highly appreciate it if you would try to follow through with your quest with his people. After someone passes, it's too often gone, a "lost art" so to speak. I personally would like to know the answer to your question myself because I simply can't find high heat paints in the colors I need. Orange, Blue and Black are the only options offered here in my small town. If you do find the answer please post it for us here at WWF. Reply:i use regular krylon spray paint on when i build my motors works great! ive tried tons of those high priced high temp paints but krylon works the best!
