Hey guys, I went to go use my miller dialarc today and when I fired it up and went to weld it would do two things: The arc would start but then after about an inch of welding the arc would go out, but it would restart real easy. The second thing is the rod would stick when striking. This isnt my first rodeo and I am almost positive that the reason for it sticking is not me (but you never know). I did however clean the terminals and then I took a wire wheel to the ground clamp as well as cut the old cable out of it and put some new cable in and that helped a little. I dont know if it has something to do with the leads maybe (they are pretty beat up) I have 50ft leads on it... maybe I have to turn the amperage up a little higher due to the length (I had it set at 85 - 90 amps for 3/32 7018)? This is the first time I've really welded with this machine because I just bought a little bit ago. Maybe I just need to play with it and figure out that damned amperage chart on the front (if you have one you know what im talking about) Any input would be appreciated, thank you in advance.
Reply:Play with the amps first. I don't pay much attention to dial settings, just turn it up good and hot, then back down as required.
Reply:did you figure out the setting for 3/32 7018?high or low setting? |
