rage 2 chop saw

i have this saw that is about 18 mos. old.  i bought it new and have used it for a lot of different jobs. it is a good saw and i have been pleased by its performance. lately, though, it seems to have lost 'power' when cutting. it will stall out on a steel cut - blade completely stops even without pressure on the blade.  i haven't used force or pressure to cut, just let the saw cut as everyone instructs. does anybody have an idea what i'm doing wrong or how to resolve the issue?  where can the saw be taken for service or check-out? i live in new mexico. thanks to anyone that can shed some light and help!

Reply:it shouldn't have motor problems already  but i would do as suggested check the brushes and check the output of your receptacle you plug into and see if you have a bad one or a bad connection somewhere  ..check your voltage there at the plug in  could be low voltageBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ?? Reply:Check your brushes, sometimes they stick in the guides.  Another possibility .... could be a partially tripped breaker on your panel, in which case ... you have to do a full reset on that one particular circuit. Any of your kids have a pet rabbit??

Reply:thanks everybody. i checked the brushes and found them ok. never thought about the power supply. i have been running from different receptacles and, in hindsight, one has worked better than the other. so....... maybe that is the glitch. does anybody know the power train for that saw? i can't make it out from the schematics-parts list. is it belt, gear/direct, centrifugal, or what?? would a dull blade contribute to the problem? i have always used the old chop saw abrasion blades until now. i have a new blade on the way and will try it before going after a problem other than the elec. supply. thanks, again!

Reply:Resurrection:  Alas! First-cuts w/ the Rage 2 today on 2" x 2" x 1/4" HSS mild steel. Clean cut w/ no burrs on either end.  Butter-like draw (key: let the saw do the work) and a noticeable lower SPL (dB) level than an abrasive. Noticed a slight side-to-side undulation (wobble) to the blade during the draw.  Will examine anomaly during subseaquent cuts to identify source of dither (e.g. machining tolerances) and potential remedies.Predict that this saw, a la the Evo's 10in brother discussed in a separate thread, will be my warhorse and will see plenty of action.  Really looking forward to using this for the build-up of the dakine Fabrication n Welding Table.  AwRight!
