OK I got my 6-50 plug installed but I don't have the 230v running yet so I used my pigtail to turn it on the 115v... I've heard these are noisy machines , and yes mine was noisy as well, but after I turned it off the noise stayed and went down a few octaves then silent ... Is that normal? Reply:OK after a little homework , I read at the miller forum this is completely normal for it to make the noise after shut off... Something to do with the capacitors discharging...Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD

Reply:It's got real bits of panther in it....that's how you know it's good.
Reply:Mine sure does make some strange sounds, has that electronic whistle almost that changes pitch when the cooling fan comes on and slowly goes away after shutdown. I thought it was weird at first but have gotten used to it.
Reply:Yes,Miller uses a "fan on demand", the fan may come on when you first turn on the machine but will turn off while it's cool enough...even the(newer) Syncro's will be silent when the machine is not actually welding... Reply:The noise is different on 120V vs 240V too.

Reply:Finally struck an arc with the dynasty today, man was it fun hah! I haven't tig welded since 2007 so this was very awesome for me.O had to make up a 240v extension to get from the house to the shed but it seemed to work great. Here's my first lap weld done on the machine, too much undercut on the top; using 3/32 thoriated and 1/16 filler. Attached Images |
