Is this worth $100? Maybe $ 75. Leads are bad but it runs good. What do you all think. I like picking up old welders every now and then. I don't need it but it would be fun to restore with fresh paint and new leads.Last edited by kctgb; 02-28-2013 at 09:17 PM.
Reply:If it works, it would be to me. Paint and decals are cheap!

Reply:I have one I paid 75 for in Canada 15 years ago. (Welders up here cost more than in the states but Im still happy with it). Cleaned and painted up nice, it's always good to have a backup machine.Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few. Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749Yeah & ill never take anything away from a good 'ol,AC buzz box either.I just think its a lot for what it is. Ive seen some machines just like this in really good shape sell for under $200. I've bought AC/DC 250 amp machines for that in the past. I think you can get a bigger bang for you buck, but it is a nice little machine. Built my first welding trailer & a bunch of other stuff with mine. I cleaned it up & painted it, sold it with leads for $100. It was a lot nicer than this one.IMHO of course

Reply:Speaking of AC welding ! I passed my structural weld test using AC only and the instructor couldn't do it in AC. I can weld up, horizontal and flat with AC. I learned on AC so DC was a breeze to learn. I have an old buzz box sitting in the shop I still use occasionally and love it.I bought an old Lincoln 225AC for $25 that I modified so it has a 100% duty cycle. I can turn and burn all day with that old welder and it has never died. I don't want to sell it I kind of have an attachment to it. If I get time I will post pics of my modifications to it.

Reply:Depends how many hours are on it and what kind of condition it's in. I looked at one in as good as shape as this one but the ding dong owner didn't change the oil when he was suppose to and the thing burned oil. Be very careful, ask to use it for awhile to make sure everything is in good condition.

Reply:I'm in Indiana, probably comparable. I gotta agree with the price being a little stiff. $50-75 would be decent.Tim Beeker.
