So. It is framing steel. All I have is a MIG welder. I can get smaller wire different gas doesn't matter.I am thinking about going to either .023" welding wire.What do I do to clean up the galvanized steel?What about safety? Should I purchase a good mask?

Reply:You could use .023 or .030 wire. C25 gas. Use a flap wheel or wire wheel to take off the coating about 3/4" out from where the weld's going to be. Wear a 3M 6000 series mask with a 2097 or 2091 filter.Jack OlsenMy garage website

Reply:Run .030 or .035 fluxcore self shield wire and don't bother with cleaning the galvi.
