stainless overflow tank going on my 1968 cougar. It's thin gauge material so the welds didn't turn out as nice as I wanted them too. The edges are a little grey in color but just a little clear coat and some brackets which I will build later and it will be good to go. Attached Images

Reply:any criticism or remarks on why stainless would turn nasty grey colors would be appreciated. It seems like I chose too thin of material which got too hot. but it's what I had and didn't feel like buying anything else. thanks, josh

Reply:Pickling Paste works really well to take that discoloration off. It takes about 20mins of sitting with the paste on it, and about 2min of scrubbing with a scotchbrite and rinse. We do it all the time with pipe welds. |
