here is a truss boom I made to go on a pair of skid steer forks. It is about 11 feet long. It worked great for putting 18 rafters on a 22'X30' shed with 10' side walls Attached Images

Reply:Nice work, but I can't see how the boom is attached to the forks. Could you explain?Thanks,Eric.P.S. Saw the other thread on the summer job. That looked like a lot of fun. Great way to spend a summer.
Reply:Looks to me like the forks are just sticking into rectangular tubing.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
Reply:Nice! You'll find uses for that for years!Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:The shed is going to be for storage for lawn equipment and an area for my mom for a potting area and her stuff. (I think she is jealous of my dad and I for our 48'X72' shop but half of it is our shop and the other storage. The forks slide into a 5" piece of channel iron with two 3/8x2.5" straps on the bottom then there is a bolt that would go behind the fork to hold them on. Oh and I forgot, I only used $70 in materials for it. When I finished it a neighbor pulled in the yard and asked " you gonna pull engines out with that thing?"
Reply:Here's the one I made. It fits the quick attach on the front end loader. It's over built enough so the tractor will hit the hydraulic relief valve before you can bend or break anything. The main danger is turning over the tractor if you try to raise a load on sloped ground. That's a lot of leverage and the tractor isn't that wide. I considered swapping sides on the wheels so the dish on the wheels is out, but then it wouldn't fit on the trailer. It works great... probably not OSHA approved. More like O****. Reply:Years ago we built a gin pole that would mount to the bucket of a Cat 416B. It fit into edge of the bucket bolted to the sides of the buckets and the hooks on top of the bucket were used to hold cable that ran to the end of the pole. If I recall it would telescope out. |
