old miller 250g carb help

hi everyone I am new to mobile welders and i just picked up an old Miller 250g and I was wondering what website I can go to to get parts. the welder was sitting for 5 years I got it running but after I put a bottle of sea foam in and filled the tank the carburetor started spitting fuel and constantly pressurizing the carb... thanks in advance*Miller trailblazer 250*Last edited by wuerthmfab; 03-26-2013 at 05:21 PM.
Reply:Sometimes you can open up a carb and not damage the gaskets.Sounds like you either have a float that is sticking or something clogging the needle/seat (or a combination of both).   Pretty easy thing to fix with a can of carb cleaner and some careful dissassembly.If you find the generator 'hunting' for the right rpm, blow out the main jets with carb cleaner as well.  I would replace the fuel filter as well.As for parts.  Step one is to get the manual from Miller.  They usually list part numbers in the back.  Sometimes there is a separate parts/service manual.  Check Miller's website and if the welder is too old, contact Miller directly.Once you have part numbers you can contact Miller or places like Millers4less and see what pricing/availability there is.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
Reply:I am not familiar with that model but if it has a steel tank you may want to peak in there and see if it is full of rust or dirt.  usually steel tanks will be rusty if sitting that long.If it is full of rust or dirt you will want to pull the tank and clean it out before you spend much time on the carb.Some times the carb will have a tag on it if so take the #s from the tag to Napa or your local auto parts store they can usually get you a carb kit. Or as mentioned above if you can get the carb apart without tearing up the gasket it probably just needs a good cleaning.
Reply:http://www.millerwelds.com/service/locate_om.phpThis should take you to the download of the Trailblazer 250G.I've got the same welder now, and parts are easy to come by.  Cummins actually owns Onan so any Cummins dealer can get you parts.When you say "pressurizing the carb" though, you have to be more specific.  Is too much fuel over-flowing the carb or is back pressure blowing it out.The Onan Performer depends on crankcase pressure to run, pulsating the fuel pump; but sometimes the breather on top becomes so clogged that it builds too much pressure.  It should look like a beehive thingy just below and beside the carb.One other word of advice, DON'T scrap that engine no matter what happens.  They're still being built, but not exported into the US due to, as usual, some "well meaning" politician.Hey also, the link screwed up.  Just hit "new search" and scroll WAY down to Trailblazer 250GLast edited by dubl_t; 03-27-2013 at 12:44 AM.Lincoln SA 200Esab Caddy 160Thermal Arc 201TSMiller Dialarc HFI don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom....
Reply:I would check on the price of a brand new carb - most of the time there not much more then the replacement kit - and for the time your going to spend cleaning all the little pieces and jets/orifices etc its just easier and more cost effective to get a new one.  As stated above make sure the tank is clean as well as the fuel lines before reassembly.  Also if you have never removed a carb make sure you make a note/pictures on what holes all the linkages hook into.
Reply:First off thank you all for taking the time to help... to be more precise what I meant by it pressurizing the carburetor is that when the welder is running it constantly sprays fuel up from the carburetor I took it apart and I've been playing with the float trying to find a sweet spot. right now it will run but the idle jumps all over the place and the fuel is still spitting up from the carburetor oh and I have the Miller manual but unfortunately it doesn't give me any part numbers for the motor components. It has the onan performer 20

Reply:Now it is idling fine but when I'm welding or when the welder goes into run mode it starts to spit fuel again. today i decided to let her run anyway and it seemed to run fine.. and weld. it was wet with gas in the air filter box though. I will check the compression tonight... am I still dealing with a carb issue or something more?
