I've been digging in boxes and found some treasures from about 1999-2000!This video is edited down from about 20 minutes. The torch is a Colmonoy mark7 with Victor 100 handle and is about the last torch size/handle combo before you have to manifold the fuel tanks. The filler material is just a nickel chrome silicon with some boron, very ductile and good for iron repair. The axle had been soaked a bit with a propane torch before brazing and the cool down was also done using a torch. The axle is actually made from some very good ductile iron but is a bit slender for a garden tractor this heavy.I've also attached some pics of the crack and finish braze after it was dressed up. This was a 1969 Case195 garden tractor (basket case) I picked up to fix for my dad as a present for Father's day 2000 and I have a crap ton of repair vids and pics so this may take some time to get it all together. I lost dad in '04 and have the tractor back now, but this is pretty fun for me!Matt Attached Images
