If i use High frequency in my garage to tig with, what kind of problems do you think i will have with interference of electronics. I have a attached garage in my house. Would the Hf mess with my computer or tv in my house? Can it goes as far a traveling through the walls to a computer,tv or such? thanksYa gotta spend money to make money!
Reply:Nope..We have cellphone users and internet and the whole electronics shebang in the shop and there are condo's all around us but as far as welding disruptions go..None....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I tig with my computer type cell phones on my belt or laying right next to the machine, my laptop computer sitting very near the machine, digital tv and stereo right on the other side of the wood frame wall from the machine, other computer and tv almost directly above the machine on the second floor and have never had an interference problem with any of the equipment. The only interference I've noticed, when having someone else weld on my tig while I do other work, is the DeWalt jobsite radio, which is on a shelf directly above the tig, will get a bit of fuzziness in the FM reception when listening to a faint radio station. Strong stations don't seem to be affected much. I had the same thing happen with that same radio when I was using it at my old job, where very nearby we had a robotic mig welder that used an AC mig power supply. I don't know if it also had HF but it was not a common DC mig machine.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Interesting thread. I recently switched internet/tv from Comcast to AT@T Uverse. I never had any issues with my tv or internet with Comcast but do now with the Uverse. I'm having a tech come out nxt Saturday to see if we can do anything about it. I have a Miller Dynasty and it only uses high freq to start the arc but it kills my tv/internet anytime I'm welding period. I will post what I find out.
Reply:See page 63 and 64 of this Dynasty manual for a wiring method to reduce HF interference.http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o2240ac_mil.pdf

Reply:I TIG with HF starting, and usually don't experience any HF interference related problems. However, occasionally (usually if I have a worn electrode, bad ground, or something that doesn't let the arc start right away) I do experience a HF interference related problem of my garage door opener going "funny", a relay in it clicks and the light turns on and off. After that it won't open or close the garage door until I unplug it and re-plug it back into its electrical outlet.
