I bought a used Lincoln Ln-25 feeder with a Tweco #4 mig gun. I want to switch over to .045 flux core and am trying to find the right nozzle tip - mine has the threads. I've read that there exists a smaller diameter nozzle for flux core, but I can't find the part number. My two "local" dealers (within a 45 minute drive in opposite directions) had the liner and the .045 spool, but were out of the nozzles and drive wheels, so instead of more driving around, I will order the parts. Any help on the part numbers?Lincoln Ranger 250 Miller 175 Mig
Reply:Number 4 is the backend size. The diffuser/nozzle/insulator/tip types vary by model. You'll have to play match up on the gun parts online using photos. For the LN-25 specific parts, download the manual for your serial number feeder and use that for part number reference.Tweco is handy because there are lots of generic consumables available. We use the Airgas consumables with good results, and don't run anything different for flux core or hard wire in our Tweco and pseudo-Tweco and Lincoln guns. It all gets fried anyway. Ebay is a surprisingly handy place to find photos of that stuff.Note that you can swap diffusers, then use the slip-on nozzles instead of the threaded sort. We prefer those as they are cheaper.Last edited by farmall; 10-23-2010 at 08:19 PM.
Reply:Thanks Farmall, that helps clear up some things - why there are so many possibilities. You're right, once I get the rollers, I may just use it "as is". I'll keep looking!Lincoln Ranger 250 Miller 175 Mig
Reply:There really is no need for a different nozzle, either leave the one you have on or just take it off completely.Have we all gone mad? |
