This is the stand I fabbed quite a while ago. Finally got the shop concrete done where could actually use it.Has a place for most things I use on a regular basis when I'm welding. Center photo is the rod holders that can see under the top shelf. Schedule 80 PVC tubes for the common used rods. And no, the 7018 holders aren't heated. Made up from steel salvaged from some old forklift battery racks. 4" S beams and 3/16 plate.Al Attached ImagesA man is judged by what's between his legs...always ride a good horseMiller DialArc HFLincoln Classic 300DThermal Arc 181iPowermax 45Scotchman Ironworker(2) BridgeportsOkomota Surface GrinderAutoCAD 2010
Reply:Nice stand, I like the rod holder arrangement. It looks to be stationary, I guess you can get where you need to be with the long leads.
Reply:Yes it is stationary stand. Have a Lincoln Classic 300D if I need to go anywhere. Leads let me get around the shop and out in the drive as needed.Rod holders are PVC capped...glued one end. They fit in 3" sch. 40 welded to the top shelf.AlA man is judged by what's between his legs...always ride a good horseMiller DialArc HFLincoln Classic 300DThermal Arc 181iPowermax 45Scotchman Ironworker(2) BridgeportsOkomota Surface GrinderAutoCAD 2010
Reply:Nice job Al!Now just put some HF wheels under it and make it mobile. I have a rack.cart for my Shopmaster with wheels. I don't really roll it around, but when I have to it makes it possible."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I had it on a cart I built when I moved it to the stand. I suppose if I ever have to move it for some reason I can jack it up and get some movers under it.It's turned out to be pretty handy so far. Makes it quick and easy to grab stuff and get stuff put back away. Which for me is a pretty big accomplishment. One thing I wanna do is get a rack on it for the grinder. The one box on the stand has the 4 1/2" Dewalt and wheels and die grinder. Works ok but think it be better if the grinder was hung off the rack.AlA man is judged by what's between his legs...always ride a good horseMiller DialArc HFLincoln Classic 300DThermal Arc 181iPowermax 45Scotchman Ironworker(2) BridgeportsOkomota Surface GrinderAutoCAD 2010 |
