I was curious if anyone had any pictures of Steel Flatbeds they built for there truck.  I have a Customer that wants me to build a basic flatbed with a Headache rack.  It looks fairly easy and simple just wondering if anyone had any pics I could refer to as I go along.  Any Pictures or Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Don.Some Blue , Some Red & Some GreyProverbs 16:2-3.2 "All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. 3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

Reply:Thanks Guys,  So far I found out, really just build a deck with supports and place 1/8" Diamond Plate sheet metal over the deck and build a headboard.  Doesnt look that difficult. Some Blue , Some Red & Some GreyProverbs 16:2-3.2 "All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. 3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."
Reply:Some steel supplyer here sale 1/8 D T steel with 3inch edge bent down 8feet by3feet you get 2 and weld them to gether to make bed. I built my bed out of 3inch channeliron  for out side frame 3 inch angle iron cross members 2 by4 steel runors And 2by6 toung and grove treated wood floor.Floor is 23 years old and still in good shape. It would take 3/8 steel floor to hold up like wood does and things ride with out tieing down.Make sure tire have clearence when loaded.
Reply:i think i posted this here a long time ago.a friend had his pickup impounded and was told it had to be re-titled as a stake-bed to be legal. granted,he had mouthed off a wee bit and got the officer pissed. but still worth checking into in your state or area.miller thunderbolt 250vlincoln square wave tig 175 prolincoln idealarc mig sp250everlast tig 210EXTeverlast power plasma 50chicago electric (hf) 130 tig/90 arcchicago electric 90 amp flux wire3 sets oxy/acet

Reply:Here is one I built for a customer. He is 84 years old and is a rancher. The door for the goose neck can be opened from the ground and the lights connection fold out to hook them up from the ground as well. Attached Images
Reply:Here's one in steel, a dump with that will have wooden removable sides with the dump tail gate. good picture of a rub rail, The frame was made from channel, 2 main ladders then crossmembers, I used 10 Ga for the floor and it is 2 piece that seem up the middle. Each pan is bent with a return that forms the side of the flatbed that the rub rail is welded too. Reply:Left side of this picture shows how the floor of the bed is bent down and returns under the cross members in 1 piece, this was fast, strong, and gave a very neat appearance, wish I had a better picture of it.    Also note on this bed the cross members were butt welded to the main channels , it makes for more welding and more pieces have to be cut to length. Normally the cross members would just run over the top of the main channels but this being a dump with no subframe, I used larger main channels to take the stress ot the dump but had to reduce the overall height.  Not to worry that skid steer boom has a manual safety lock, and the other end has temp.supports put in during welding.
