This goes with the Blue Heron I made a while back for a local rafting company of the same name. The bent 3/4" sch 40 uncoated pipe is supposed to be whitewater and the bird is self explanatory (I hope)The Heron is plasma cut (with my brand new T-D Cutmaster 52 [Apologies to Jimcolt]) from 11 gauge hot rolled sheet. It's 3 separate parts that will get 2 shades of blue and one white at the powder coater's shop. It's hard to see but it's drawn out full scale on that roll of paper in the "layout action" shot.It mounts, with hex head wood lags through mounting tabs on the ends of the pipe, above their sign between 2 6" x 6" posts. I hope the rafting co. will hurry up and get it finished so I can get some good shots when it's complete. It's 8'-1-1/4" long and 3' high including the Heron.Last edited by app-ironworksllc; 09-20-2011 at 11:14 AM.Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]

I would hate to see that come apart going down the highway, er.... wait.... nevermind. As with the other work of yours I have seen, very nice. It's always nice to see someone with skill AND creativity. You get what you put in and people get what they deserve...
Reply:I like your idea of how to get the look of water and to represent movement. Very simple and effective.

Reply:Just got them back from the powder coater's shop. I think I liked them bare steel better. That's the rub with making stuff for other folks you don't always get to do what you'd like.Either way I can't wait to see it all together on their sign. They got it put up the other day and should have these up pretty quickly. Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]
