does any one make digital gauges for the mig gas tanks my grandfather has a habbit of forgetting his mig gas tank is on and it runs out and he only has a small tanks but at 25-30 each fill it adds up
Reply:Not to sound rude, but how does having a digital gauge prevent a person from shutting off their gas cylinder?  Perhaps he can be trained to make it a habit to put something necessary around the gas cylinder that he needs when he is done welding so that he remembers to turn off the gas.  Something like a hat, cell phone, keys, etc.  Maybe a windup alarm?HH187Harris O/AInfrared thermometerHalf a dozen angle grinders
Reply:Dwyer, Ashcroft, APG and several other manufacturers make digital gauges. Not all are O2 compatible but should be fine for mig mix. Sit down before you price them. The "inexpensive" ones I've got for mixing ran over $400. You can buy quite a bit of gas for that price...Biggest thing, check for leaks. My regs will hold pressure for several days and not leak down with the tank off if I forget to purge the lines..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Yrs ago I got myself in the habit of shutting the gas off when I shut the welder off, even if I'm planning on starting it back up in 15 min. I do the same w/ my O/A tanks. That way I don't ever forget. Reply:im looking for the digital regulator itself and i have that 1/8 inch plastic hose on my welder is their a upgrade kit to make it out of rubber i dont like that plastic crap
Reply:fill up a balloon with some CO2, & give it to your grandfather to weld with.  Tell him he can graduate up to a tank when he learns to shut the tanksA lot cheaper than going digital.Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:You could look into getting the LARGEST conventional guages that will fit (and Western makes fittings for high pressure gas you can use to change the angle if needed).Old folks routinely buy large face phones and other items.
