Hey guys, I'm trying to wrap my head around the maze of settings on my Dynasty 350. I have a job coming up and want to use the Lift-Arc feature which I have not done before. The job requires a bunch of out-of-position stuff and I have the notion that I can go with the Lift-Arc feature and eliminate the pedal making things waaaay easier. I just can't seem to see the setting profile in the manual. Is it possible to use a Lift-arc set-up and simply touch the work for a moment and then the preset amperage will kick in? I had the notion that the gas would still be automatic and I would be a high speed welding fool....... or am I just a fool for thinking this is a possible set-up?
Reply:I have used the liftarc on my Maxstar STH its pretty handy for exactly what you mentioned. Just set it to liftarc, touch the tungsten to the work for a half a second, the gas will start to flow and when you lift the tungsten the arc starts. You can only weld with one steady amps, but I just travel faster and use my filler to kind of quench the puddle a bit as it gets hotter.
Reply:On my 200 Dx all you do is set on lift arc and then "on" instead of remote. If "remote" is on then lift arc does not work. You could also try ramp up.. ramp down. sounds like you are doing aluminum??? You can also adjust your pre/post flow. The hardest part in my opinion is quitting the weld w/o leaving a small crater, but this has a lot to do with my ability... easier with pedal.Last edited by six; 11-16-2010 at 01:57 AM.
Reply:Crap, That's it!!? I got caught up in the manual on the memory settings section about the functions on page 63 (Section 6-2, G-On Trigger Operation). It shows a lift capability where it looks like you can program all the phases of the weld by starting with lift-arc and then by simply lifting the torch a bit higher, the final slope sequence will kick in and the crater/overheating issue at the end of the bead is fixed?Either way, I'm at least schooled on the ease of Lift-Arc than to you guys. thnx |
