A guy was selling off his Dad's collection of rods and it included: a box of 3/32 6013 a container of 3/32 7014, a box of 60ish carbon arc rods (looks like fun) 30 lbs of random rods some bound together with thin copper wire a container 1/8 347-16 stainless rod and someday I hope to have a project cool enough to merit the 1/4 347-16 rods :-)His Dad worked for Dupont as a welder and did a lot of stainless work. The son was 60ish and his father is now in a home. I hope to do something good with the old guy's welding rods since I gather he took pride in his work lifelong work. He kept the rods inside the house not in the garage.Anyway, I know how you guys like a picture so here it is. Reply:I got my current 180 because I bought 3/32 7018 DC rods by mistake. They didn't run at all nicely in my AC buzz box. So I started wanting the DC side and then discovered I could get that with a TIG machine. I lurked here and people say the 180 is a nice little starter and I now agree.I haven't turned it up to "kill" as zap would say but I suspect it will do a great job pushing 1/8 rod but that 1/4 is huge. With the AC box I once got a flee market deal on 1/4 rod (no number considered) and used to like violently hack pieces off by turning the AC to 225 and pushing and sploshing my way though the metal. Ah back when I had no torches or portable band-saw and I'd worn out my last scrap of abrasive cut-off wheel.Hey - RickV I keep seeing cheap welders up here and think of your passion/obsession/syndrome of restoring them. Do you still suffer terribly from kijiji-itis and does your welder collection still beg for more friends to fraternize with at nights?Miller Syncrowave 180SDLincoln WeldPak 100 with gasHandheld Milwaukee BandsawO/A Cutting Torch
