So the Sprout is into Scooterin' at the skate park and GOOD LORD I had no idea this sheite was serioushttp://www.freestylescooterproducts.com/bars.aspx79.00- 130.00 just for barsOf course he asked for some custom bars....anyhoo- he's only 6 so I figgered I'd just make some Bars for him out of DOM- no need for the 4130 strength yet- when he's clearing 5 stairs then I'll worry about thatShort one is for him- just applied some Gun Blueing then Clear Coat and the one on the right is just Flat Black paint and for one of his buddies at the skate park. I park a chair in the shade and play my geeetar while he gets his scoot on. Not a bad way to spend a couple hours. Not a great Pic, from the phoneEd Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge

Reply:Great bars, but I have to applaud your taking the time to sit there while your kid scoot's. It's small moments like these that make a huge difference in a life. Reply:Yeah, but that's like $3000 in inflation-corrected moneys. It bears repeating, It bears repeating, that spending this time with your kid is awesome. Time to fire up the sparkmaker and put him together a full custom scoot for his birthday?

Reply:you know, your kid/s will never forget this. not just the support you're giving them with something that they enjoy. but the bragging rights that they can go to their friends and say, "Hey, check out the sweet set up my dad built for me!" Those are things that no one can ever take away. not everyone gets those kinds of memories. Hopefully they will take your actions, learn your skills, and pass them on to your future grandchildren. Reply:Swivel casters for the "only goes directly downhill" scooter. I was thinking balsa wood handlebars might be a good thing. Reply:Teaching the kid early on that everything has to be improved & modified . I think it may be a disorder. Open up a package and it's "what can I change on this thing?"
