Just say I was going to turn my garage into a small fabrication shop. Would these machines be a good start?Stick/Tig: Syncro 200.Mig: Millermatic 211.Plasma: Spectrum 375 (it's a toss up between that and a Hypertherm Powermax 45 but no need to start that debate again.)Would you suggest something else? I'm looking to buy new even though I know I could get a used 250 for the same and/or less than a 200.
Reply:Definitely !      That's awesome, lately posting have been about the china machines . That would be a super start. If you have money NOW, MILLER has a current rebate program that ends this month.     The 211 and 375 are on the list.  Prices vary by location. I just took advantage of the 15% rebate by adding the 211 to my collection.Check local for a  package deal with tank. My 211 from local supplier was  $1025.00 before rebate. I added the  $150 in extras to get the 15 % . http://www.millerwelds.com/landing/build-with-blue/Plasma might be a tough one . I'm a MILLER guy but the 45 is a HOT seller.

Reply:best gloves i ever had were elk. recommend you raise one of those as well, and think of what tomatoes you can grow with all the crap...
Reply:Youll want a gas rig for heating and brazing...and perhaps cutting if you exceed the plasma cutter's capacity. If I were to do it Id put all my eggs in the engine drive basket w/ a good wirefeeder. Add the gas rig to that and a good used inverter perhaps if you really knew a lot of TIG was in your future. I owned a engine rig when I had a farm and found it just about as good as sliced bread. I like being mobile b/c there are things that just dont want to come to a shop.
Reply:I woulden't be saying all the stuff from China is Chinese garbage if you are looking to buy Miller.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's

Reply:Looks like an excellent lineup! Also looks like you like blue stuff. Don't get to caught up on certain makes, miller, lincoln, esab, hypertherm, and other known good quality companies are all good. If a good deal comes up there is no reason to be brand loyal which may just cost you more money.I have a few different colors and all do their job perfectly.

Reply:I dont want to keep you from getting new tools, but before you buy them I woulde look into if its OK to run a Fab shop out of your garage, and what insurances you may need first. The reason iI say this, is insurance gets pricey, and not sure if looked into it already.  i dontdon know if u live in the city or country, but if its the city, they may give you a problem. If you have pain in the butt neighbors they may complain..    I said before, I don't know you're living arrangement, but wanted to give you a heads up before you buy all the new tools, and can't use them Like you intend...     i would opt for the hypertherm...   good luck..

Reply:Don't forget you might need other big ticket items.  Saw? Press? ..... Shear?  ........... Ironworker?
Reply:Thanks for the help. The actual "shop" won't be happening for a year or two. Just doing some research so when the time comes, I know exactly what I want/need to get.
