Reply:Besides the tried and true tool bucket, I like to use one to keep my extension cord rolled up in. I keep about 6' or so of the male end sticking out amd then coil the rest neatly on top. It pays out easy and doesn't get all tangled up. Toss a few tools in with it and go.They also make great forms for tent weights, emergency sona tube forms for footings and geat 80 lb concrete boat mooring forms..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:First I'll say you can never have enough 5 gal buckets. As soon as you use the last one for something you will come up with why you need another one.Maybe you can cut out one side and make some sort of feeder out of them.Make great trash cans when you have a party.Great stools to sit on.Tool holder.Catch all.Make sure you let us know what you did with some pictures because now I'm curious to know.We are on our way to being farmers! Reply:Hydroponics systems. All you need is some PVC, some flexible line and a small pump and you have a kit that sells for a hundred bucks. I know, I just bought one to grow lettuce for the wifeee. She's happy so it was a cheap investment. Just a thought.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Trade?

Reply:Here is a dandy.Take 3 pails and group them together. One has 4" water and two have 2" grain. Every time you inspect them do the old shell game and change positions. The mouse can smell the grain and can make the jump. Sometimes in the water and drowns. Sometimes in the grain and has a feast. When you catch the mouse in the grain pail he panics and tries to jump out but the shifting grain makes it impossible.I've used this mouse trap for years in my barnGordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."
Reply:I have a a large supply of oil and lub buckets from work about 150 of them. I have a friend whose 2 kids raise chickens for 4h and have an egg route. We built a frame from salvaged 2by4s and made a an upside down T then nailed a top and bottom cross brace in them. THis made a stand to bolt some cleaned 5 gallon buckets in about of them laid horizontally. We washed out some delidded buckets and their lids then cut out an opening in the one side of the lids. This holds the bedding in and gives the hen the closed in space they like.
Reply:Originally Posted by bigbThat's a great idea. So you could make one with a powerful shop vac, just fix a smaller tube to the second hole and vacuum oil out of cylinders etc without crapping up the shop vac?
Reply:I have many buckets with round trays that fit in them. This is the best storage I have found for nails, screws, bolts and other small parts. Just pick up the bucket you need and take it with you.Buckets with lids are better. I think I got the trays from Northern Tool many years ago. Reply:I dont have any Pictures but, Me and my dad made a Tumbler for cleaning Brass casings for reloading bullets. Just took a small motor, mounted the bucket horrizontally and added the casings and cleaning beads and 4hrs later they looked better than brand new. Reply:Just made a skunk and racoon trap out of 2 buckets.Skunks cant see you when you open the door so no spray. After the skunk is a good distance away the 20 gauge makes sure he wont come back.
Reply:Get one of these:Dust DeputyI got one to use for my blast cabinet and my god does it make a heck of a difference. Almost everything ends up in the 5gal bucket and nothing in the vac. Makes life alot easier and makes it much simpler to re-use media. It also does wonders on other things like sucking up metal dust and not guming up your shop vac filter (if you use your angle grinder alot, this is something you'll come to love).--Wintermute"No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience." - John Lockewww.improvised-engineering.comManufacturer Agnostic:Blood----------Sweat---------Tears----|------------------|----------------|----Lincoln Red, Miller Blue, Esab Yellow

Reply:Make sump well for sump pump under house. Drill a bunch of holes in the sides and put a cheap submersible pump in it to pump out the water.
Reply:Also keep water in one for cooling metal after welding, cutting or grinding.
Reply:Low rise staging. Just add planks or sheets of plywood. Maybe increase your insurance policy a wee tad too. Actually works best with the buckets still full of mud.
Reply:I use one @ work with 3" water in to keep the hot rod buts. No fire hazard that wayGordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." |
