Popup to utility trailer

EDIT:  Welder is a Lincoln Precision TIG 225 AC/DC TIG WelderStick welding it with some 6011 rod.Found a cheap popup trailer, stripped it and in the process of doing it as a utility trailer.Really enjoying metal work.  Its been awhile since I've done anything involved like this.Before:Stripped:Adding some sides and rails:Last edited by bargainfittings; 11-15-2010 at 08:51 PM.

Reply:That looks real good. That'll make a nice little lite duty tlr. I made a tlr out of one for a farmer friend to throw spike harrow sections on for transport field to field. Didn't put any sides on it. I had to make the fenders out of 10 ga X 6" flat as they  would take quite a beating, needless to say. Reply:Holy cow!  That is slick!My plan is to take the rails in and deck it with 3/4" treated plywood.   I've stripped it down to bare metal and will paint it black.The rails are made of structural beams that I cut in half lengthwise with a torch.  I will dress the edge with a grinder and sand them smooth before paint.Last edited by bargainfittings; 11-17-2010 at 10:37 AM.

Reply:Handy little trailer indeed. I need to borrow it this weekend to haul some cans to the recycler.The only other things I would do to it is add expanded metal to the rails and make a tailgate. I thought you said you were going to paint it blue.
Reply:Just my observances, Black doesn't hide dirt for S. infact I'd say it shows it more than most colors. At least thats what I've found with the black vehicles I've had/have.There are no problems.
