Hey all, been practicing tig welding here in the garage here and there over the past couple months, mostly just running beads, getting a feel for the torch and what not. Finally got bored with that and decided to try somthing diffrent.I got some 1/8" 6061 aluminum sheet, and made up this "thing" lol...no real rhyme or reason why I did this, other than the fact that I have a sheet metal intake manifold sitting here that someone made for a motor I am building that I have been oggleing over..lolRunning 99amps max, pretty much floored all the way thruout,3/32 filler and tungsten (yellow)On to the pics! Thoughts and helpful comments are welcome and appreciated, I'm very much so still a noob at this!
Reply:try 1/16 filler, won't cool the puddle as much as 3/32a few spots bead looks cold an, some toes not tied inkeep up the practice it will come in timeidealarc 250/250 ac-dc tigidealarc 250/250 ac-dc tig #2 used for sticklincoln sp100hh125dual arbor grinder polisher30 yrs of hand tools52 pitch blocks 6p-26prake gauge -pitch gaugeG&D prop repair 918-207-6938Hulbert,okla 74441
Reply:Thanks for the tip, I will try that next time out. Fit up was pretty horrible, in some spots I was able to get it to keyhole, other, not so much..lolI tried to get it fit up with an outside corner joint I guess its called, but there were a lot of spots where it overlapped.
