What is the correct filler to use for tig welding 1/16 mild steel. I have some oxyacetylene rod but I am not sure that it is satifactory. i am just practicing right now
Reply:E70-S2 or S6. The OA rod should work fine. Give it a wipe with acetone to clean it before using it.
Reply:yup, 70s-2 is more slugglish for out of position work and inexpensive to buy. 70s-6 is a more fluid puddle for slightly better wash in.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:I have been doing ok with the steel welding. One problem, I will be welding along just fine and the arc all of a sudden widens out and gets a green color to it. Is it possible that i am contaminating the tungsten?
