Reply:So does that mean that Moose13 has an alias of Bfunk13 or is it the other way around?http://www.arboristsite.com/firewood...ent/173307.htmCool project whoever you are!!!Sure, I can fix it... I got a welder!!!
Reply:Looks like a pretty steep wedge.be careful. I added more wedge angle to mine ... but it ended up firing split logs a good 10 feet... It got to be downright dangerous. I went back to the stock wedge that it came with.... just made it a little longer. PS; an old plow blade works good for a wedge. has a taper too. Reply:I will keep an eye on it, we only have pine here and it splits fairly easy.
Reply:Looks Good. I really want to make one. To buy a Name brand one is very expensive. In my opinion its probably easier and alot cheaper to make one and to have the satisfaction that you built it.Some Blue , Some Red & Some GreyProverbs 16:2-3.2 "All a persons ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. 3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

Reply:Very nice work. This is on my project list to do this year. Thanks for sharing with us.
Reply:Nice big machine Moose. I don't think there will be any problem in cutting any wood bundle by this Dinosaur looking machine. Hope to see it soon in real life._________Log Splitter Ireland
Reply:I like the set up. especially that it's nice and tall, no need to stoop over to use the machine. I have a few questions though, as I plan on building and or modifying one in the not to distant future.1) How hard is it to do a 4,6, of even 8 point wedge? what are the draw backs of doing this besides getting it ti match up to different sized logs.2) To counter act the log size delema, how hard would it be to make a structurally sound adjustable wedge? meaning, can I make a wedge on an arm that I can adjust? My thoughts were to do a receiver type mount that has an internal strew that I can turn raising and lowering the wedge, but not transfering the load to the screw. Just set the wedge into the receiver, and use the interal screw to adjust for height. This would also allow for multiple wedge configurations. I'm thinking 2.25" solid sq stock (gussetted at the base plate of the wedge) into 3"x3"x.375w tubing. do you think that would be strong enough to support the load? 3) not having experience in designing hydrolic systems. How do you calculate the force that each unit will be able to apply? There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger

Reply:Very nice for small stuff. We are still cutting wood that is as big as 36 inch rounds. so we build our splitters to stand up on end so we can roll a round over and tip it down on the base shoe.Or some ive seen have built like yours but added a hydralic arm to pick the round up and load the splitter. They look like fun to run. Mac
Reply:Very nice job! I wanted to build a big one for the skid steer, but I don't have a fireplace. Reply:Beautiful! It wouldve been nice if you'd designed it to pivot to a vertical when needed. Mines store bought and is vert or horizontal and I find the vertical route far less back breaking.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum |
