Just bought my first Tig...a Craigslist Thermal Arc 95s.

I know there are better machines out there with quite a bit more capability.  I have been thinking about a Syncrowave or Thermal Arc 185 for a while, but I came across this on Craigslist for $200.  Wasn't really planning on buying something like this and wouldn't have spent the money to get one new.  It has never been used to Tig.  The parts were still all zip tied and bubble wrapped.  He used the stick part of it for a fence repair job and hasn't used it since.  I figured for $200, how could I go wrong.  It's a basic machine, but that's a good place to start for me.I have wanted to learn Tig for a while, so this will get me some practice on steel and keep me happy until I decide what I really want.  Now I just need to scrounge up an Argon bottle somewhere.I love Christmas time....seems like when I find all the best tools for sale....

Reply:I would have bought it for 200.  And I don't even need one...    Good find.  For another 100-150 for a jug of gas and some rod and you'll be all set.
Reply:Great machine to learn on and also use for various applications...Get some filler some argon and some coupons and have at it...Dang wish that wouldve been on my craigslist for that.....Good find..

Reply:Even though I bought it for the Tig, it will be nice to have the stick capability as well.  The actual machine was quite a bit smaller than I thought it was going to be.  Using stick would make it extremely portable.  For the price I couldn't pass it up and figured it would be useful in the future, especially if I ended up buying a transformer machine.Last edited by kazlx; 12-12-2010 at 01:04 PM.
