Besides the obvious, what other handles fit the ESAB/Purox/Linde/L-tec CW-300 cutting attachment? They go back many years but I don't find info on "between model" interchange.I got a clean CW-300 for free (looks rebuilt) and need the info to hunt a cheap handle so I can try it out.
Reply:Oxweld w400It looks like but I can't be sure, that the Purox w300 has replaced the Purox w201, w202 torches, they may fit your cutting attachment. Here is a thread I found that also references this.  http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=15623Last edited by norite; 11-14-2010 at 01:27 AM.Reason: found more info"The reason we are here is that we are not all there"SA 200Idealarc TM 300 300MM 200MM 25130a SpoolgunPrecision Tig 375Invertec V350 ProSC-32 CS 12 Wire FeederOxweld/Purox O/AArcAirHypertherm Powermax 85LN25
Reply:I have some of those torches, they are great. According to the Esab catalog, the W-300 handle will accept these cutting attachments: CW-300, CW-400, CW-35, CW-202, CW-203. You should be able to find one of those easily.IAMAW Local 330Airco 300 AC/DC HeliwelderAirco Dip-Pak 200 with Profax spool gunPowr-Kraft AC225Everlast PowerArc 200stBuffalo Forge No.21 drill pressSpeedglas 9100xxAirco, Oxweld, Purox, Victor torchesLincoln Ranger 8

Reply:I missed this one earlier (this one came up right after the fire).   I have agree completely that the Purox torches are great. I must say that I'm biased since my first torch bought at age 13 with hard earned money was a Purox so that's what I learned on and used exclusively till I went to work at the local machine shop. That's when I learned how much better they where than Victor. I hated that torch they had there the whole 8 years I worked there. The Purox is just so much more balanced, smoother, and easier to control. On top of that is the tips are better quality. Unfortunately I don't have it any more (the fire took it) but I had a Linde catalog with the Purox torches in it and they showed how the tips where forged so as to make the passages a smooth taper inside. If you'll look closely at a Victor tip you'll see that they're step drilled. I've seen a brand new Victor brand tip that had the hole offset in that step drill part. There was no way on earth to make that tip cut cleanly.   As for the balance of the bigger tips on the CW400 attachment that's balanced out buy the longer CW400 handle. I have a brand new set in the box I managed to get years ago on ebay that has this setup. I've never managed to get it hooked up due to space constraints leaving me no place to setup a second torch. I've been hoping to get up enough money for the HF torch hose reels all summer to go with my other reels I setup so that I could have both torches available when needed. There's a larger variety of tips available for the 1400 series some of which I've managed to collect off ebay over the years.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm

BTW the 400 handle can run heads for both tip styles (see linked chart), and used heads average ten or fifteen bucks on Ebay. I don't mind my various older Victor cutting (not combination) torches, and like their parts interchange and ease of service. They just aren't as comfortable for hours of constant highly repetitive use, due to the relatively sloppy lever design etc. As (any) of the Victors wear I notice annoyances like sticky cutting air valves, common on our CA 2460 attachments at work. Good for scrapping and tips are cheap. I love the stainless diaphragm 450 etc series of Victor regulators. Elegantly simple and a breeze to work on. We won't be buying any of those newfangled Edge versions, since they will cost more to rebuild. My guess is they exist to save on brass costs.
