I seen a job for a welder for a DOD outfit,,,,i do not have tons of exp with fluxcore or 7024 rods,,,,,,i love 7018's,,,,,is a 7024 close to a 7018????????? and could you tell me a little about this test,,,,,, i have no exp backgouging,,,,,would this be easy??????would this be a copperclad rod?Required:Must be able to pass a welding proficiency test - Grade 7 ( test - 2A ): - FCAW Flux core groove test - Full penetration welds - Vertical and overhead position - 3/4 " plate beveled - fill one side - backgouge the plate - fill the back side - Pass UT /RT .
Reply:a 7024 is intended for high deposit welds at flat or horiz position. They need more heat than a 18, and have a nice fat puddle.They are cake to weave with.
