Reply:Nice job.  I think the metal/wood mix look is one of my favorites.  I plan on building something similar for the side yard of my place.
Reply:I agree, I like the wood/metal combo. I made some gates for my front yard out of square tubine with T-111 attached. I used the T-111 thinking it would resist the weather better. I glued and screwed the material in place then stained the whole thing.Cut an MGB and widened 11" C4 Corvette suspension and LT1 Chevrolet power & 6 spd. Reply:Forty the gates are beautiful! I love mixed materials also, nice balance. For the driveway gates, where is the 1" square tube on the sides and going across the length? Is it inside the wood or on the back, or? With the people gate, is the wood structural or again tubing? What caught my eye is that the tenon that would be used to create the frame of the wood would have to be pretty small at the scalloped top rail.No critique here, I really love the look, just curious. Reply:I can't comment on the cool stuff behind the big doors. The steel tube is the meat and the redwood is the bread in the gate sandwich. They look the same inside and out, except that there are tiny screw heads showing on the inside, I used trim head deck screws to fasten the wood.
