Ok, please be easy on me as Im no where near the level of a lot of you guys   Hopefully I get this right and the pics show up and align with the words...Im not to pc savy...here goes:       This is an ATV gear case a friend brought me to repair, he hit something and broke off the case "mounting lug"                                   So, I decided to make a fixture to locate the current postion of the lug, that way I could duplicate the postion when I make a new lug. The start of it, flat stock bolted to the front of the case where the driveshaft comes out,                        Then, a couple pieces on the sides so it is held in the correct location, drilled so the mounting bolt goes through,                       The "fixture" assembled bolted to the case                     more in the next post, if I did this right.....
Reply:looks like ur doing a good job getting it line up in the  original position.   welding on dirty oil soaked  cast case is whats gonna be worst.   trying heating case up and burning as much oil and crape  off before welding.  can added extra metal when building area up to>Innovations are what i leave behind for History
Reply:Thiel, thank you for the comments....I cleaned the case with alcohol, but didnt know about heating it up first, thanks
